The Shawnee Heights Fire District is committed to assuring that each
member of our department is properly trained to deliver the best possible
service to the community. As a condition of employment with SHFD,
each member receives over 16 weeks of fire academy training to become
nationally certified as an entry-level firefighter - as well as over 20 weeks
of training to become certified by the State of Kansas as an Emergency
Medical Technician. Our training division then works to assist each
member with maintaining or upgrading those certifications as necessary.
Members meet twice monthly as a team to learn the latest skills in fire
attack, rescue and emergency medical services. Our water rescue team
is in the water monthly - regardless of the season - to hone their skills. We
also encourage all of our members to reach outside the department to take
their skills beyond our own requirements. You can be confident that
when you need our services, a well-trained member of the Shawnee Heights
Fire District will answer the call. We stand ready to serve.
