Just days before Thanksgiving, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Sean Swords and Shawnee Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Fernkopef jumped into action to save a rural Shawnee Co. man’s life.

Several first responders helped bring Duane Eberhardt back to life that day. Without the quick actions by those two officers, though, Eberhardt says his story would be a lot different.
