We assisted with filling barricades last night and this morning for today’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Another busy afternoon and evening for SHFD Firefighters with several large brush fires in Red Flag Warning conditions.
Metropolitan Topeka Airport Brush Truck 3 going up against a thick CRP field today assisting SHFD on SE Stanley Road.
Med 21 is one out of three Med units that service the Shawnee Heights Fire District. It is a 2011 Ford Expedition
A mutual aid request from TFD this afternoon was an opportunity for SHFD to utilize UTV 25 in the Welton Grove Park area of Topeka.
There’s a Red Flag Warning again today! Keep heat sources—hot equipment, engines, welding torches, grinders, and so on— away from grass and other fuels!
SHFD responded to a multitude of calls today including, a barn structure fire, grass fires in the district as well as mutual aid assist and first responders
The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM CDT this evening.

SHFD training this morning to safely operate utility vehicles. We use UTVs to access fires and other emergencies in areas a full sized vehicle can’t go!
This is the fire NE of Hays or north of Catharine about 5 miles. Fire departments are set up north of Catharine to try to keep it from getting into town but if you live in or around Catharine, be prepared!
