Tanker 21 is This Week’s “Fire Truck Friday”
Tanker 21 and its twin, Tanker 23, are the 2 newest fire apparatus at the SHFD. It’s a 2017 Toyne pumper on a heavy duty Kenworth t800 chassis. This beast of a truck holds 3,000 gallons of water and delivers it through a 1,500 GPM pump! It has 3 electronically operated dump chutes that can fill the 3,500 gallon port-a-tank, which it also carries, in less than a minute. Equipment on thsi truck includes 4 self-contained breathing apparatus with 4 spare cylinders, axes, a halligan, a chainsaw, ladders, salvage tarps, 3 different fire extinguishers, shovels, and plenty of hose.
These trucks allow us to supply our engines with water to better protect to homes further away form fire hydrants in our rural communities.
