Today, SHFD is hosting Light Staffed Engine Company Training, presented by Task Force 1, Inc., focusing on the critical first 5–10 minutes upon arrival at a structure fire. Designed for light-staffed engine companies, this training emphasizes:

  • Rapid Size-Up: Assessing the scene quickly and effectively.
  • Initial Assignments: Clearly defining roles from the start.
  • Taking Command: Establishing leadership and communication.
  • Stretching the Line: Deploying hose lines efficiently.
  • Getting Water on the Fire: Initiating suppression tactics promptly.
  • Basic Search: Conducting initial search operations safely.

Led by experienced outside instructors, this drill is tailored to enhance coordination and effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
